Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has credited MS Dhoni to play an important role in shaping his early international career. Dhawan said that it was Dhoni’s faith and support during his early days, which gave him the confidence to succeed at the highest level. Speaking during a charity event in Beyond the Bounders in London, Dhawan reflected on the support received from the former captain of former India. “I think Dhoni Bhai supported me a lot and really supported me. At the beginning of my career, his faith in me created a big difference. When a leader shows that kind of faith, it really helps you grow and sets a long way,” Dhawan told IANS. While Dhawan later admitted the support received as captain to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he emphasized that Dhoni’s mentarship was standing out during the early stages of his visit. He said, “Even later, Virat or Rohit also supported me on becoming a captain. But in the initial phase, Dhoni Bhai’s support was something special.” The left -handed batsman also appreciated the role of coaches and assistant employees for years, stating that it was equally important to remove their efforts from the field.
