Bengaluru: The best coach, it is called, thieves who steal thoughts from others that they are at the top in their game. Hockey India has planned to do this with its internship initiative for coaches along with national teams. It aims to pool resources, borrow ideas and build teams for the future. Harendra Singh, India’s women’s hockey head coach, is at the center of the initiative and believes that it is a step in the right direction. These new coaches are eager to learn. International resources are doing a good job, but it is important to give opportunity to our homegron coaches.”On choosing a coach for a week -long internship program, Harendra said: “Hockey India and we decided to call coaches from various state units and academies, which we think we can help prepare Indian hockey for the future. They come and train with senior teams for a week. They also give their inputs and ideas to coaching staff.”Harendra insisted that this is a long -term investment. “This is definitely not immediate coffee, but the initiative will pay a rich dividend in a long time. These coaches are far more foresight and technically equipped and can serve hockey for a long time.”Baljeet, Shanmugam joins the coaching staffFormer India goalkeeper Baljit Singh, who lost his right to a eccentric accident in a national camp in July 2009, made his comeback in the national setup last week. The injury ended the keeper’s career, but the 43 -year -old now has another strap with the game. He has been planted by Harendra for coach goalkeepers with Dutch advisor Simon Zizp, which will continue to operate short -term camps regularly.
