New Delhi: In a major step towards improving voter services, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a new standard operating process (SOP) to ensure that electoral photo identity cards (EPICS) have been distributed within 15 days of any update in the electoral roll.It consists of new enrolled voters or existing voters who have requested a change in their details. Currently, the epic takes more than a month to reach voters.Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. The revival system launched under the guidance of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanash Kumar along with Vivek Joshi is designed to increase service distribution with real-time tracking for delivery from card generation through the Post Department (DOP).

Voters will also receive SMS updates at every stage of the process, they will be informed about their epic status.As part of this initiative, ECI has launched a dedicated IT module on its new ECINET platform, which integrates with the system of DOP through an application program interface (API). This will streamline the workflow, change the existing manual tracking process, and strengthen data security.Officials say the step is part of the widespread push of the Commission in the last four months, so that electoral services can be made fast and more accessible for voters across the country.
