‘Thin, crooks, partitions and disintegration’: Opposition’s 4D attack on the Waqf Amendment Bill. Bharat News

New Delhi: Opposition strongly criticized the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, called the Center’s efforts “slim, infamous, divided and disintegration” Minority community,
“This bill is not only about administrative changes; it is a deliberate attempt to dilute the constitution, discredit minority communities, divide Indian society and eventually separate minorities,” Congress MP Gaurav GogoiWhich opened the argument on behalf of his party.
He said, “Today, his eyes are on the land of a community; tomorrow, it will be another.”
He further accused Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who introduced a bill to confuse the House about its claims on the previous UPA government.
In his address, Rijiju talked about the changes made by the previous UPA government and it gave the law an overriding effect on other laws, requiring new amendments.
“The government is not going to intervene in any religious institution. The changes made by the UPA government in the Waqf Act affected it, so new amendments were required.
Additionally, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav called it a strategy by the BJP to “cover its shortcomings”.
“The BJP repeatedly brings such a bill to hide its failures. We have seen what the administrative officials were doing in Sambhal … To meet their shortcomings, the BJP introduces such bills. This time, the Waqf Bill is being used as a smokscreen for their failures,” he said.
The proposed bill restores the pre -2013 rules, which allows only Muslims (for at least five years) to practice the property to dedicate the property to the Waqf. This also ensures that women have their heritage before the Waqf declaration, which have special provisions for widows, divorced women and orphans.
Additionally, an officer above the rank of the collector will examine the government properties claimed as WAQF, in which a final decision will be taken on the transfer of ownership to senior government officials from the WAQF Tribunal.
