The thick black smoke shook up the upper east after a major explosion on Friday morning over Manhattan. The video, which wandered on social media, was shown increasing smoke in the sky as firefighting reached the spot.The fire broke out at around 10 am near the 95th Street, about 305 East of Central Park. More than 100 firefighters and EMS personnel responded.The New York City Fire Department confirmed that they were struggling with fire, writing on X: “FDNY members are currently working in a 3-alarm fire in the 305 East 95th Street in Manhattan.” According to the Mirror, Deputy Assistant Head James Cantty said three firefighters suffered minor injuries. The Building Superintendent, who was in the basement at that time, was also being treated for minor injuries.Officials said the fire began on the roof and spread to Cocloft and three penthouse. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. The blast comes in the city exactly a day after a tragic accident, where a person died after being run by his wife in a car park. The crew has largely brought the fire under control.
