Watch: Car in flames in Amsterdam’s dam square, suicide attempt suspect

A man set himself and his car on fire at the Dam Square in Amsterdam on Thursday, in which the police believe that there was a possible suicide attempt.
Local media footage shows a red car near the national monument near the south -east section of Square.
The incident started with a small explosion, after which flames were emerging from the car. Amsterdam police confirmed on X: “CCTV footage suggests that the fire started on the dam square after an explosion in the car.”
Police said that despite having many people, no people were harmed. The scene revealed that police vehicles quickly surrounded the burning vehicle.
Officials confirmed that the driver deliberately set the car on fire and was injured in the process. He stumbled out of the vehicle burning with his clothes in flames, but the police quickly set fire.
The injured person was later recognized as a 50 -year -old Dutch citizen of North Netherlands and was admitted to a hospital in police custody. The authorities withdrew his name.
Police said, “Detectives are keeping all the scenarios open, but they firmly suspect that the man wanted to kill him. He is suspicious of arson.”
An AFP correspondent investigated the damaged vehicle to police and explosive experts, in which the central class was restricted.
A witness saw the AT5 television “small pop, not even a real explosion” and people fleeing. “Then suddenly there was a loud explosion and there were lots of black smoke.”
“After that I saw the man. Suddenly he was on fire. It was untrue,” he said.
