New Delhi: Several leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (India) staged a symbolic protest against the Special Intensive Amendment (SIR) of the Election Commission (ECI) election rolls on Friday. Congress MP and Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, along with many MPs of India’s block parties, along with Sir, wrote on them and put them in a dust.Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge also criticized the Election Commission (ECI) of India for his decision to implement Sir Nationwide. In a post on X, Kharge alleged that the move was politically motivated. He wrote, “The Modi government wants to suppress the votes of the poor, Dalits, tribals, backward classes, minorities and underprivileged, so that it can amend the Indian Constitution as per Manusmati.”He further claimed that the BJP and the RSS are trying to use the amendment process to separate groups of margins. He said, “The RSS-BJP has always sought to deprive its weaker sections of its voting rights, and now, through the use of the head, it is determined to fulfill its long-standing agenda,” he said. The Election Commission announced on 24 June that it would start a special intensive amendment of the electoral rolls across the country, a copy of which was made available by news agency ANI on Friday. The order states, “The Commission has now decided to start special intensive amendments across the country to discharge its constitutional mandate to protect the integrity of the electoral rolls.”Kharge also joined against the move against the MPs of India. Protests entered their fifth day on Friday.According to the news agency ANI, the MPs also organized a March 1 before the day session from the statue of Gandhi in the Parliament complex.Kharge also posted a video of the protest on his X account, in which he was torn to a Pladard and thrown into a bin.
