According to a report by the AFP, a brain-loving pregnant black woman in Georgia was placed on life support due to the state’s abortion sanctions, but she was removed after giving birth to a child.Officials said that the woman, known as Adriana Smith, gave birth to a child with a child under 1 kg prematurely. The name Chance, the child was distributed through emergency C-section on 13 June and is currently being taken care of in NICU.Smith, who was given life support on June 17, attracted national attention, as his case came to the fore after the Supreme Court’s 2022 verdict, amidst major changes for abortion access, which provided women to end pregnancy to overturn the federal rights of abortion in a review of the Landmark Roe V Wade Decision. Three Democratic Congresswomain said in a statement, “On Friday, June 13, 2025, his baby son, named Chance, was born before the Emergency Caesarean section at 4:41 pm.” “Chance is about 1 pound, 13 ounces and currently in NICU.”The 30 -year -old nurse, Smith began to experience a serious headache in February when he became a nine -week pregnant. According to the agency, there was only one recipe for medicine in his first hospital trip. The next morning, she was brought to the hospital where she was at work. There, doctors discovered several blood clots in her brain and eventually declared her brain dead. The Georgia law prohibits miscarriage after six weeks of pregnancy, known as ‘heartbeat’ law, based on the first identity of fetal heartbeat.Since Smith was nine weeks pregnant, the doctors were reluctant to take any action that violates the law. Speaking to local NBC affiliated WXIA-TV in mid-May, he said, “This decision should be left for us. I am not saying that we must have chosen to end his pregnancy, which I am saying: We should have an option.”
What is law?
Since the Conservative-Shock Supreme Court overturned the Roe V Wade in June 2022, 20 of the more than 50 American states including Georgia have imposed strict abortion ban or full restrictions.Three Congresswomains Nicesma Williams, Ayana Pressley, and Sarah Jacobs are advocating strong security for the rights of pregnant women, especially for black women who are inconsistent with systemic medical neglect and strict abortion laws.“A formal legal opinion or lack of prosecution guidance leaves families and doctors in Limbo,” said the MPs who have submitted a Congress proposal on the issue.
