2007 AD. This surprised everyone
A 2007 AD for an electronics brand showed Dhoni’s hidden talent. In the advertisement, he appeared with Shah Rukh Khan, and both were asked to swap the roles-to run the real-life roles of each other on the screen. This gave a fun glimpse in Dhoni’s amazing acting skills.
A classic Bollywood-inspired plot
Main plot: Two brothers separated in childhood. One was raised by one film-loving family, the other one by Cricket-Juninki. Twist? Dhoni played the actor, while Shah Rukh played the role of a cricketer – followed a fun and unexpected spin for the story.
The creators Sumanto Chattopadhyay, Sukesh Nayak, and Herral Desai told Atbrandecuity that the entire shoot was fun and laughter, making it a joyful experience for all on the set.
Team’s attempt behind the scenes
Sukesh Nayak recalled that the entire shooting was full of laughter and fun. It was not just Shahrukh or Dhoni, but everyone shared light moments, making it a pleasant experience for the whole team.
Dhoni shines through the natural acting talent
Sumanto Chattopadhyay shared that Dhoni’s acting talent discovery was a pleasant surprise for the team. Subsequently, Dhoni did not appear in several advertisements, so there were uncertainty about his performance. However, he influenced everyone with his natural acting skills.
Hyl Desai shared a similar scene, remembering how Dhoni stood out as a star on the set. His impressive appearance and performance may also surprise Shah Rukh Khan.
A node for Om Shanti Om
The advertisement was shot around the release of Farah Khan’s film Om Shanti Om, starring SRK. Since the soundtrack of the film was already out, its songs were used in the advertisement. Interestingly, Dhoni’s character in the advertisement was also inspired by the role of Shahrukh in the film.
According to the hero, there were fun moments on the set, where Shah Rukh showed Dhoni how he would do some dance moves, while in return Dhoni performed his signature on-field gestures. His exchange presented everyone-to follow a vibrant stretch for-Sochak and makeup crew to the director.
How the idea was born
The producers were initially asked to make a corporate film characterized by Dhoni and SRK. During a brainstorming session, the team came with the concept of reversal. The idea of release with Om Shanti Om was extremely popular, the idea naturally fell into place.
Given that cricket and Bollywood are deeply nurtured in India, this advertisement took inspiration from both. It was played on the classic Bollywood trop of two brothers separated in childhood, raised in a very different world, and later joined again – Amar Akbar Anthony was re -published. This familiar topic immediately made it reliable to the Indian audience.
