Heavy rains on Tuesday provoked several parts of Delhi, which brought great relief from excessive heat. However, in many areas, waterlogging and traffic congestion problems were seen.According to official sources, about 12 flights were diverted at Delhi Airport between 3 pm and 4 pm due to adverse conditions of the weather.The downpore caused waterlogging in several areas, including underpass, Zakira underpass, bridge Prahladpur, Eto, Najafgarh Road and Rohtak Road near Delhi Cantonment, affecting the movement of vehicles.Earlier, India’s Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a red warning for Delhi and nearby areas, which is a forecast of thunderstorms, after which moderate to heavy rainfall and strong winds reached a speed of 50–70 kmph.According to IMD data, the rains recorded at various weather stations included 10 mm in Safdarjung, 5 mm on Lodhi Road, 41 mm in Pusa, 15 mm in Narayan and 23 mm in Ayanagar.The winds flying at a speed of 35-40 km per hour were seen at Palam and Safdarjung stations between 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm and then between 6:30 pm.The maximum temperature in national capital was recorded at 36.2 ° C, 3.8 degrees below seasonal average, while the minimum temperature was 28 ° C, 1.5 degrees above normal. The relative humidity was 61 percent at 5.30 pm.IMD has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday which will remain in effect till Thursday. Electricity is expected especially during the night with thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall and strong winds of 50–60 kmph.The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 34 ° C and 27 ° C respectively.IMD also issued a moderate thunderstorm warning, warning that acute power could pose a threat to life, especially in open areas. Traffic disruption and delay in flight and train services are also expected.Residents have been advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Residents have been advised to be updated through IMD’s official website and verified media sources.Meanwhile, the air quality of the capital was recorded in the ‘medium’ category on Tuesday. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) was at 104 pm at 4 pm.
