On Monday evening, NYPD officer Didarul Islam left for duty, wore his uniform to protect the city of New York. He never made it back home.The Islam was one of the five people killed in a collective shooting at the Manhattan office Tower, where a gunman set fire to a rifle before taking his life. Another person was seriously injured.Police say the shooter brought from Las Vegas to New York and started firing inside the lobby of the skyscraper, with NFL and Global Investment firm Blackstone including Blackstone.The motive behind the attack is not clear.

Islam, a 36 -year -old officer, was tragically killed in a collective shooting at Midtown Manhattan. Born in Bangladesh, Islam came to the United States in search of a better future. For the last three and a half years, he served in Bronx with the 47th predecessor of NYPD. He leaves a wife behind who was eight months pregnant and two young sons.Mayor Eric Adams said in a heartfelt message on X, “Officer Didarul Islam died when he was a hero and protector of New York City. Adams also described Islam as “a true-blue new yorker, not only in the uniform he wore, but in his spirit and energy of loving the city.”Later, sharing a post on X, Mayor Eric Adams said, “I am on the way to the dignified transfer of the falling police officer Didarul Islam, who was killed in his insensitive collective shooting in Midtown Manhattan tonight. He put his life on the line and a hero died.,Police Commissioner Jessica Tish praised the bravery of Islam, saying, “He was working that we asked to do it. She put himself in the way of loss. He made a final sacrifice.”Tish said the suspected shooter, known as 27 -year -old Shane Devon Tamura of Las Vegas, had a documented history of mental illness.According to officials, Tamura came out of a double-park car outside the 345 Park Avenue with M4 rifle, entered the building lobby, and immediately set fire to the officer Islam. The gunman continued his fierceness through the building, killing three civilians and injuring another before taking his life on the 33rd floor.Monitoring footage and police reports indicate that Tamura allowed a woman to shoot inside any security guards and an individual on the upper floors.As the city is mourning, officer Didarul Islam is not only remembered as a dedicated police officer, but as a dedicated husband, father and immigrant who gave his life in serving his adopted home.
