Louis Therox is not a stranger for the controversy, but his latest documentary, The Settlers, threw him to the center of the Israeli-Filistini debate-and not the way he uses. Known for its curious, disarmament style, this time Therox dives into one of the most emotional and politically frightening areas on Earth: West Bank. But instead of universal praise for his journalism bravery, he is facing fast criticism – most of the audience who says that his coverage was anything, but balanced.
Backlash is accused of prejudice in his heart. Therox label Denila Weis- A prominent person in the Israeli settlement- a “Socopath”. Weis, who has long been advocated by the Jewish settlement in disputed areas and has deep ideological views about displacing the Palestinians, has been depicted as an enthusiasm with a little sympathy. His rhetoric in the documentary is inflammatory, and Therox does not copy words when he challenges him.
Meanwhile, Palestinian activist Isa Amro is presented in more sympathetic light. Therox follows Amro through Hebron, showing Palestinians in areas under the military control of Israel in its non -violent activity and harsh conditions. Therox’s supporters argue that the film needs to be stimulating – that it was successful in putting a spotlight on the ideological extremism within the settling movement and the moral cost of possession.
