Why Spain is forcing AirBNB to reduce 66,000 listings amid housing crisis

According to an order recently by the Ministry of Consumer Rights of Spain, more than 65,000 holiday listings are to be blocked on the website of AirBNB. The Spanish government is increasing its regulatory measures targeting short -term rental companies. It comes amidst a fierce housing crisis, due to which sometimes the cost of increasing fare has been opposed to take the Spanish to the streets to take them to the streets. These rising fare and housing costs are typically attributed to platforms such as AirBNBs, which has recently been bouncing in tourist destinations such as Barcelona and Madrid. The ministry said on Monday that out of 65,935 listings, AirBnB was slated to block, most ownership as well as licenses in terms of licenses. Consumer Minister Pablo Bustindui said, “Already protecting those who create a business outside the right to housing”. Through a spokesperson, AirbNB said they would appeal to the decision, but they did not think the ministry was authorized to rule on short -term fares.According to Airbnb, he used a “indiscriminate functioning”, which did not demand a license to operate for rent. The Spanish government had announced a announcement last year to list 10,000 apartments as short -term fares. He also informed the company about non -listing listings months ago.The High Court of Madrid has supported the order as the 5800 fare listing on AirBNB is to be removed immediately. According to the Spanish government, two later orders are to be issued until the target of 66,000 is reached. The growing housing crisis portrays a serious picture as hundreds of homeless people have resorted to gold in airports. The Eurostat had said that the authorities did not provide any assistance to the people sleeping in the airports, nor did they expel them. The situation has deteriorated due to a political defect game, which has largely overshadowed the actual underlying issue.
