New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday addressed the party’s “Women’s Wing Leadership Training Program”, urged women to actively participate in politics and social initiatives.Along with Chief Minister Mann, the event saw the presence of Punjab in -charge Manish Sisodia, AAP Punjab Women Women Wing State President and Moga MLA Amkandap Kaur Arora and Punjab Women’s Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill. Kejriwal addressed the gathering through video conference.Highlighting the inclusive approach of AAP, Kejriwal told women leaders, “Only the Aam Aadmi Party gives women an opportunity to enter active politics. Other parties use women only as a vote bank. Their women’s wing leaders bring women to rallies or participate in women-centric events, but they do not allow women from normal families to enter active politics. ,He emphasized the party’s efforts for the welfare of women, especially through the ‘Drugs Against Drugs’ campaign. Kejriwal said, “Women suffer the most due to drugs because drugs snatch their children and husbands and destroy their homes. Therefore, women should participate in the ‘war against war’ campaign and contribute significantly in eradicating medicines from Punjab.”He urged women to accept the members of the addicted family in de-addition centers, given that the facilities are equipped with modern facilities including air-conditioning to ensure the comfort of the patients. He said, “In my view, the biggest task of virtue is saving people from drug addiction and bringing back their families,” he said, “encouraged women to run an awareness campaign in their local areas.”Kejriwal also talked about the widespread governance initiative of AAP, stating, “We built good schools for poor, Mohalla clinics and children of good government hospitals, and made their electricity bills zero. These schemes have made life very easy for poor people, otherwise at such a time of high inflation, existence would have been very difficult.”Chief Minister Mann addressed the importance of women in the society, criticized opposition parties for limiting their participation. He said, “Other parties also make women’s wings, but they are limited to a minister. Women from normal homes are only to raise slogans,” they said.Mann said, “Just as a house cannot work properly without women, similarly the country cannot function properly without their participation.” He highlighted the initiatives like free electricity and Mohalla clinics, which reduces the financial burden on women, share an example: “Once I met a milkman, who thanked me for a lot to do a lot for milkmen. I asked him how? He said that after 300 units of electricity were freed, women started saving money. Earlier, people used to settle accounts with me every three months. Now they pay me every 10 days because they are saving money on electricity, treatment and their children’s school fees. ,He mainly benefited the campaign against drugs, as they are often the most affected by drug addiction in their families. Mann, citing efforts for economic empowerment through self-help groups, said, “In Sangrur, with the help of the government, 100 women formed a group and started their work, and today their monthly business has reached Rs 1.5 crore. In addition, thousands of women have been admitted to Punjab Police. Today, women are moving forward in every field. ,Highlighting the ongoing efforts to train women leaders, Mann said, “Today, we have sent about 350 women sarpanches and panchs from Fatehgarh Sahib for training at government expense from Maharashtra. The government is tolerating the cost of their living, food and travel. We are working with full commitment for strong women, and in the coming days, we will see emotional results.
