New Delhi: Virat Kohli’s wife and acclaimed actress Anushka Sharma on Monday shared a deep emotional message on social media after the announcement of Kohli’s retirement from Test cricket. Kohli brought the curtain down to a 14 -year -long red ball career, depicting 123 trials since making his debut against the West Indies in 2011. After the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar in 2013, Kohli’s batting for the longest time emerged mainly.Anushka shared a heartfelt photo with her husband on Instagram and wrote, “They will talk about the record and milestone – but I remember none of the tears you showed, not seen the fight, and the unwavering love that you gave to this format of the game. In terms of records, Kohli finished his career as India’s fourth largest run-scorer in the trials behind Sachin Tendulkar (15,921), Rahul Dravid (13,265), and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122). He holds the record for hundreds of most doubled by an Indian – seven – more than Tendulkar.Kohli’s legacy as captain is equally important. His 40 Test win is MS Dhoni (27 from 60 tests) and Sourav Ganguly (21 out of 49 tests). Globally, he ranks fourth among the captains with the highest test win behind the Graeme Smith (53), Ricky Ponting (48), and Steve Waugh (41).Under Kohli, India reached the number 1 rankings in Test cricket after MS Dhoni succeeded in 2014-15. The team held that position for almost five years. His crown achievement came in 2018 when he inspired India to win a historic first test series on Australian soil.
