Zelenskyy in Berlin: Ukraine wants strong backing

Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelansky is ready to hold a meeting with newly appointed German Chancellor Frederick Merz at Berlin on Wednesday, as Ukraine is looking for increased military support between Russian attacks. The meeting comes when the kiev contests elections with a new wave of drones and missile attacks, and amidst the ongoing diplomatic efforts with the aim of resolving long -term conflicts.Germany, recognized as the second largest provider of military aid in Ukraine after the United States, has played an important role in supporting the defense of Ukraine. Chancellor Merz, who took office three weeks ago, said on Monday that Berlin and his western allies are no longer bordering boundaries on the weapons supplied to Ukraine. This policy can enable shift to expand the operational access to its defensive and counter -capabilities as it faces Russia’s full -scale invasion, which began in February 2022.Since assuming office, Merz has been engaged in diplomatic initiative to promote a ceasefire and maintain Western support for Ukraine amid growing regional tensions. Their efforts come as military activity intensifies with a front line of about 1,000 kilometers (620-mile), with deep attacks in areas with both Ukrainian and Russian forces. In the last 48 hours, conflict has seen some of the most heaviest drones and missile attacks till date. On Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, the Ministry of Defense of Russia reported to disrupt 296 Ukrainian drones in 13 Russian areas. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobianin confirmed that the air defense brought 33 drones to the capital, while Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobayov reported that 42 drones were intercepted. Drone debris allegedly damaged three residential buildings in the village of TriteSkoy, although no casualties were reported. The attacks caused disruption at Moscow airports, with many flights delayed or diverted.Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that the Russian forces launched a joint attack overnight consisting of five Iskander ballistic missiles, a directed air-launch missile and 88 drones. Ukrainian Air Defense Systems shot 34 drones, while 37 were allegedly blocked. Despite these defense, Ukraine’s railway infrastructure was targeted in Kharkiv, Donnetsk and Sumi regions. State Railway Company Ukrzaliznytsia reported any casualties, although the operation of the railway was temporarily suspended in parts of the Kharkiv region to clean the debris with a down drone. In Sloviansk, the drone broke the windows in the station building and caused a slight damage to a train car.Continuous growth highlights the ongoing intensity of conflict, with diplomatic efforts struggling to keep pace with intensity of military functions on both sides. As the Zelanceci prepares to meet Merz, the attention will be on strengthening Ukraine’s rescue.
