SC Ashok University Professor Ali Khan agrees to listen to the arrest of Pilot of Mahmudabad to comment on Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: Supreme Court agreed to hear a petition filed on Monday Ashok University Professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad, who was arrested Haryana Police Comment on Operation Sindoor.A bench led by CJI Br Gavai is expected to lift the case on 20 or 21 May. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued that Mahmudabad was arrested for a “statement of patriotism”.Mahmudabad, who is the head of the Department of Political Science Ashok University In Sonepat, was arrested at his residence in Delhi on Sunday, allegedly on a social media post on Operation Sindoor.The operation launched on 7 May targeted the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir after a terrorist attack in Pahgam on 22 April.According to the news agency PTI, the arrest was made after a complaint lodged by a BJP youth group leader. ACP, Ali Khan Mahmudabad has been arrested in Delhi at Rai Police Station in Haryana, stating that the arrest was directly tied to the professor’s comment about Operation Sindoor.Student newspaper The Edit said that Mahmudabad was taken into custody without prior notice and is currently being held at Rai police station in Haryana. The incident has lightened anxiety within the academic community and between civil rights groups, many of which see arrest as a crack on free expression.For the Haryana State Commission, women had earlier issued a notice to Mahmudabad, taking cognizance of the statements of “May or 7 on May or 7”.
